This was taken from a photograph from the Different Strokes Blog of Karin Jurick. It is an oil painting on black gessoed watercolor paper.I was very excited to paint it yesterday morning as I listened to the folks gathering on the mall for the inauguration. Watching all of the inauguration festivities reminds me of my time in DC as an adult and as a child. I can not visit the mall without crying somewhere, usually the Lincoln Memorial. I wish I could have taken the girls there yesterday to witness history.
